Mission

The Bed Bug Relief Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the awareness of the increasing and ongoing silent epidemic of bed bugs in Northern Nevada. Our goal is to provide information, advice, local resources and bed bug treatments to those individuals who cannot afford it on their own. By starting the difficult conversation, we will help combat the stigma of bed bugs, ease the financial burden, and address the emotional trauma that bed bugs can bring to individuals, their families and friends.

Vision

Our goal is to take the stigma and shame out of bed bug infestations and to see a drastic reduction in the bed bug population in Northern Nevada. The Bed Bug Relief Foundation has created a 4-pillar approach to battling the silent epidemic of bed bugs here in Northern Nevada.

Our 1st pillar creates a forum where the difficult conversation of bed bug infestations can be openly discussed without shame and indignation. Our 2nd pillar educates the community about the true nature, life cycles and epidemic potential of bed bugs infestations in our community. The 3rd pillar is to provide financial support to those individuals who can not afford the financial burden of extermination. Our 4th pillar connects the recipient with local wrap around resource organizations in our community, for any further assistance they may need.

Making Lives Better

These Financial Impact Stats From Pest Control Technology December 2022-

The dollar amount of the global bed bug product and service market is staggering. Global Industry Analysts estimated the 2020 global bed bug market a $1.5 billion, and the U.S. made up 26.9% of that market at $404 million (GIA 2021). Additionally, the segment is expected to grow to $2.5 billion by 2027. These numbers may be large, but they still do not fully capture the extreme financial turmoil that can occur when families that cannot afford a bed bug treatment are forced to pay for on anyway. Eliminating bed bug infestations can cost folks between $300.00 and $5,000.00 with the average cost hovering around $1,750.00 (TOH 2022). Given that in 2019, the median single-family income in the United States was $68,703 (Kopestinsky, A. 2022), people could spend up to 7.2% or more of their annual income treating an infestation.  Even more alarming, the Federal Reserve found that 12% of all Americans could not cover an unexpected cost of $400 (Fed 2022), meaning the average cost to treat a bed bug infestation could cause more than one in 10 people to go bankrupt or,  at the very least, into debt.
